Nêhiyawêwin (Cree Language) Course

We invite you to join us for this introductory Nêhiyawêwin  (Plains Cree Language) Course.

This course is open to everyone - both Indigenous and non-Indigenous participants who wish to learn to uplift language revitalization. The geographic regions that this course would be most applicable for are Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba and Montana.

We offer this language learning opportunity as a partnership between Natural Curiosity and the social charitable enterprise The Outdoor Learning StoreWe know that Indigenous knowledge and perspectives are foundational to outdoor learning and learning from the Land, and learning language of the local Land is a critical part of deepening knowledge and understanding.

All sessions will be recorded, and the recording will be made available to registrants for 3 months following the final live session. Throughout the course, participants will be encouraged to actively engage with the material through interactive discussions, group activities, and storytelling sessions. Additionally, the use of multimedia resources, guest speakers will enhance the immersive and creative learning experience.

Your Language Instructor

Rolling Baldhead is Nêhiyaw (Cree) of One Arrow First Nation in Saskatchewan. As an Indigenous educator with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan, he now uses his degree and skills that he's learned from his family, friends, and life experiences to teach in a classroom and on the land. 

Rollin will be welcoming in Nêhiyaw Elders who can support this learning journey, and this learning will be supported by Alyson McMullen (Swampy Cree heritage)
