Back by popular demand, join Joseph Pitawanakwat, Andrés Jiménez, and Junaid Khan (Creators Garden Birds) for a continued exploration of the deep ecological knowledge held within Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe language) bird names.
In this new session, the presenters will introduce different bird species than those discussed previously, offering insights into how Anishinaabemowin reflects relationships, responsibilities, and the roles these beings play within the natural world.
Where western scientific naming often highlights physical traits or geography, Anishinaabemowin reveals stories, behaviours, and connections guiding us in how we can better support bird populations for generations to come.
Whether you’re joining for the first time or returning from the previous session, this gathering offers new teachings, perspectives, and relationships to learn from.
This offering will be:
-
Complimentary for all registrants of the Spring Anishinaabemowin course
-
Free as a standalone session for all Indigenous participants
-
Offered on a sliding scale for non-Indigenous participants
Attend this Online event on Tuesday, June 16th , 2026, from 5:00–6:30 PM. A recording of this sessions will be emailed to registrants afterwards.
