In 2025/26, we developed and presented 15
professional development opportunities for 5,411 educators
across Canada. Here are some of our standout moments:

FOUR SEASONS OF INDIGENOUS LEARNING: SEASON 2

 

The ten-part professional learning course, in partnership with the Outdoor Learning School and Store, has supported 1,002 participants this year alone in strengthening their connection with the local land as part of their personal journeys toward truth and reconciliation. In total, 4,078 participants have engaged with the course.

SELF GUIDED LEARNING SERIES

Our free, 5-part Self-Guided Learning Series offers an introductory exploration of Natural Curiosity's four-branch environmental inquiry framework, enriched by Indigenous perspectives. Designed for independent learning, the program has attracted 4,357 registrants since its inception. In the last year alone, 798 educators registered.

INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE COURSES

 

In partnership with the Outdoor Learning School and Store, online Cree, Mohawk, and Ojibway language courses have seen significant interest, with a total of 3,502 participants. These courses aim to revitalize Indigenous languages by making them accessible online.

BIRDS OF ANISHINAABE AKI WEBINARS​

This year, Natural Curiosity hosted two virtual workshops exploring the rich ecological knowledge embedded within Anishinaabemowin bird names. The workshops attracted a combined total of 730 participants.

LAND RECOGNITION ACTION CARD

In collaboration with EcoSchools Canada, Natural Curiosity co-created the Land Recognition and Reciprocity Action Card as part of the EcoSchools Certification Application. This action was completed by 404 schools and 96,686 students across Canada

CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS

Natural Curiosity participated in and facilitated the following conferences, presentations, and workshops:

  • ETFO Climate Justice Conference

  • Building a Just Future - A Sustainability Solutions Summit

  • COEO Annual Fall Conference: {Re} Generating our Natural Intelligence

  • Presentation to the OISE Alumni Association, highlighting opportunities to expand learning and engage with Natural Curiosity.

  • Presentation to early years educators with Southeast Kootenay Child Care Resource & Referral

 Created in collaboration with Indigenous educators and partners, the Natural Curiosity Program addresses a critical link between environmental and Indigenous education, supporting all educators to authentically respond to the calls to action by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.
